To the many middle school students who auditioned for the 2012 IUSD Middle School
Honor Orchestra:

You were one of the many fine musicians the Audition Committee had the opportunity to
hear this year.  The selection process was indeed difficult. Regardless of the results, we hope
you continue your high standards of excellence, and audition again when the opportunity presents
itself.

For the students who are selected, you will need the following information:

  • Directors:

  • Rehearsal Schedule
    All rehearsals will be at Lakeside Middle School.

  • Attendance Policy
    • Be on time to all rehearsals. One un-excused absence or two tardies will result in a student's removal from the group.
    • If one rehearsal needs to be missed in the case of illness or family emergency, please contact one of the directors immediately.
    • If for some reason you cannot fulfill your commitment to this group, please contact the directors immediately so that another student can take your place.

  • Disneyland permission slip
    Bring this signed to the first rehearsal along with the $20 donation to pay for busses. Make checks out to "Irvine Unified School District"

  • Concert Music
    Download it from the "results" page. Come to the first rehearsal with all your music prepared!!
  • Recordings
    Please listen to the following recordings prior to the first rehearsal to acquaint yourself with the concert literature:
  • Chair positions
    Chair positions will not be confirmed until the first rehearsal. Students who come unprepared to the first rehearsal will have their seating position re-evaluated.
  • Other information
    • Students will need to wear a white dress shirt/white blouse, tie, black slacks/skirt, and black shoes and socks at the honors concert and Disneyland performances. 
    • There is a suggested donation of $20 to help defray the costs for our Disneyland performance trip. Please bring a check made out to "IUSD" to the first rehearsal.
    • One purpose of the Honors Concert is to raise funds for the district music program, and we thank you for your continuing interest and support.  Every person who wants to attend the concert must purchase a ticket.  Prices will range from $20 - $45, with a small number of tickets available for $20.  Of course, students performing in the concert do not need to purchase a ticket.  On the evening of the concert, we anticipate a parking fee of $8.00.  There are limited free parking options in nearby lots.
